In the old days, school children used to parade in front of the building during the festivities at the occasion of the Queen’s birthday.
The Oranjestad police headquarters became headline news in August of 1977 when an angry crowd gathered in front of the building to protest the arrest of a trade union leader.
Riot police had to intervene when things were about to get out of hand.
The Oranjestad Police Headquarters was torn down in 1986 when a major hotel was about to be built at the site, the Sonesta Hotel, the current Wind Creek Aruba Renaissance Resort.
SAN NICOLAS POLICE HEADQUARTERS
