Maintenance Works Completed at the California Lighthouse
At the end of 2025, maintenance works began at the California Lighthouse to ensure the continued preservation of this iconic monument. The works were carried out by GPS Construction and included a full repainting of the lighthouse, as well as comprehensive maintenance of the top section, interior spaces, and windows. In addition, the safety rope was replaced to meet current safety standards.
The project was successfully completed in January, after which the California Lighthouse was officially handed back to Monumentenfonds Aruba.
Starting in February, the lighthouse will welcome a new tenant who will be responsible for managing the site and opening it to the public. This will allow visitors not only to enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views from the top, but also to learn more about the rich history of the California Lighthouse in Hudishibana.
With these improvements and renewed public access, the California Lighthouse continues to play an important role in preserving Aruba’s heritage while offering an enriching experience for both locals and visitors.
