California Lighthouse closed for maintenance
Starting Monday, October 13, 2025, until the end of the year, the lighthouse at Hudishibana will be closed to the public.
The reason for the closure is that the monument is due for major maintenance.
The Monuments Fund Aruba (SMFA) owns the lighthouse and operates according to a maintenance plan through which different monuments belonging to the foundation receive periodic upkeep each year.
Recently, work was completed on Casita Geel on Weststraat, and now attention will shift to the California Lighthouse.
Due to the lighthouse’s location and daily use, it is one of the monuments that requires frequent maintenance.
The work will be carried out by GPS Construction and is expected to last approximately two and a half months.
Among other tasks, repairs will be made to the top and walls, and both the interior and exterior of the lighthouse will be completely repainted.
SMFA extends its gratitude to Experitours and the general public for their understanding and cooperation during the closure period.
